Grainrus Group of Companies has increased its production capacity by acquiring in September 2023 Nosters company, which is a malt producer in Northwestern Federal District.
This production site is one of the most modern sites in Europe.
Construction of a malt house, elevators and wharf complex with an area of 8.6 hectares started in 2004 on the historical territory Ust-Slavyanka in Nevsky District of Saint-Petersburg. In 2008 the full-scale production cycle was launched.
Production capacity of the malt house Nosters is 115,000 tons of light malt per year. The food safety management system of the enterprise is certified according to FSSC22000. The production site has state-of-the art equipment provided by the Swiss manufacturer of grain processing equipment and technologies Bühler. In 2019 the malt house received an award of the Government of Saint-Petersburg “For the high quality of goods (products), work and services”.
Favourable geographical location by the side of the Neva river and the availability of convenient railway and truck dispatch areas allow for total volume of shipments of not less than 1,000 tons per day.
The head of the enterprise is Galina Alexandrovna Avidonova, who has been an irreplaceable director of the malt production facilities of Grainrus Group for 12 years. In 2022 Galina Alexandrovna was awarded the national certificate “The Leader of the Year 2022”.
Under her leadership and with her direct involvement modernization of the malt production facility in Kursk was carried out in 2012, production of rye malt was launched in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region) in 2020, the volume of barley malt production was increased many-fold, new malt lines were introduced, including such unique varieties for Russia, as buckwheat malt and oat malt.
At present, Grainrus Group’s total production volume of light malt amounts to 250,000 tons per year and of caramel and special malts – up to 12,500 tons per year.
Grainrus Group’s malt business is represented by three modern production sites:
- The malt house “Kursky Solod”, located in the city of Kursk, with a capacity of 125,000 tons of light malt and 6,500 tons of caramel and special malts.
- The malt house “Organic Food”, located in the city of Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region), with a capacity of 100,000 tons of basic light malt and 6,500 tons of caramel and special malts.
- The malt house “Nosters”, located in Saint-Petersburg, with a capacity of 115,000 tons of light malt.
According to Grainrus Group’s malt production line manager Dmitry Morozov, “Acquisition of this modern production site in Saint-Petersburg will not only allow us to deliver malt within Russia and to other countries in the shortest time possible, but will also give us an opportunity to produce more than 25 varieties of malt, meeting customers’ individual requirements and ensuring the highest quality of our product”.
